I began my musical training when I was in primary school and I joined the local choir, I then went on to have lessons in violin, piano and finally oboe. Fast forward 12 years and now I’m studying for an MA in music performance! Music has always been my biggest passion and I’ve been lucky to play with some of London’s top professional orchestras.
Greenwich has a new charity for learning all aspects of music! Greenwich Music School (GMS) provides music lessons and courses for all ages, and was officially registered as a charity in January. The organisation was started in 2016 by Charlton-based husband and wife team Ed and Bethan Scolding, who are both professional musicians and teachers.
Each child is born a musician - the way they interact with you is already full of music even when you don't realise it!
Babies and toddlers are naturally musical and our interactions with them are full of music, even when we don’t realise it. Just think of the extra rise and fall that so many of us use when speaking to them! And when we instinctively bounce a child in fun, or rock them to sooth them, they are experiencing rhythm.
